ABOUT
katie karakourtis (she/they) is the artist, founder, and human behind the wild goose co., a creative endeavor based in denver, colorado. the wild goose co. is named after katie’s beloved dog, goose - who was named after mary oliver’s poem wild geese.
katie’s work examines histories of social movements + protests, and how the lives, identities + ideologies of their leaders are still relevant to our present world + reality. she is a multidisciplinary artist - choosing her medium based on what will most effectively communicate her ideas - however, screenprinting, painting + lettering are her favorite forms of expression. words, plants + flowers, childhood recollections, and expressions of vulnerability are also common in her work. she hopes her art will connect the viewer to their own story, the stories’ of those around them, and to the larger story all humans exist within.
the wild goose co. was born in the summer of 2020 as a way to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic + subsequent lockdown. over the years, the wild goose co. has offered a wide variety of services as katie has attempted to figure out the balance between running a business, while still remaining authentic to + passionate about her process and reasons for creating. calligraphy, hand lettering, and partnership with small business are core parts of her business and contracted work.
katie will graduate from metropolitan state university of denver in december of 2025 with a bfa in studio art, and a minor in sociology. she hopes to integrate skills learned in school into the calligraphy and hand lettering work has always been central to the wild goose co.
